In recent accomplishments, Astha’s 2018 Nepali single Chodera Najau, charted #1 on Hits FM 91.2 and was nominated for 5 awards at the 2076 Hits FM 91.2 Music Awards which included Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Arrangement, and Best Pop/Rock composition, while taking home the “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Award”.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the title track from her new album, exclusively premiered on July 27, 2019 and secured the win for “Best Pop Singer (Female) Award” at Radio Kantipur’s National Music Awards 2078. Aesthetically and sonically, Astha has been writing with an authentic songwriting style that takes her back full circle to her acoustic roots. Working closely with production geniuses Niraj Tamang, Kobid Bazra, Ashesh Rai and audio maestro Binaya Man Amatya at Project Studio, the singer-songwriter released her full-length Nepali album, Sa Re Ga Ma Paduring a private album launch in Kathmandu on August 31, 2024. To further reconnect with her acoustic beginnings, the singer-songwriter is also in the process of recording and releasing a series of raw acoustic renditions of her original songs backed by her acoustic guitar.
Aside from her solo projects, Astha frequently collaborates with her mother, a talented and accomplished writer, singer/lyricist Susan Maskey, co-writing songs and uploading acoustic performances under the moniker Aama Chhori. Their patriotic tribute of Baneko Chha (Gopal Yonzon) has garnered over a million streams on YouTube. Looking ahead, they aim to use their music to raise social awareness.
Over the years, Astha has had the opportunity to work with prominent Nepalese event promoters such as Parcha, 3D events and K Gariraperforming internationally in concert venues all around the world, such as The Metro (Sydney, Australia), The Coronet Theatre (London, UK), The Hi-Fi (Melbourne, Australia), Café Live and Loud (Sikkim, India), The Horseshoe Tavern (Toronto, Canada), The Opera House (Toronto, Canada), and The Hard Rock Café (Boston, USA). She has also performed at music festivals such as Toronto Indie Week, Fete de la Musique, City Roots Festival, Nepal Music Festival, the Chevrolet Miles Music Festival, and the Himalayan Blues Festival.
